GNB - Good News Bible

.

When the Pharisees heard this, they replied, "He drives out demons only because their ruler Beelzebul gives him power to do so."

(Mat 12:24 GNB)

Jesus knew what they were thinking, and so he said to them, "Any country that divides itself into groups which fight each other will not last very long. And any town or family that divides itself into groups which fight each other will fall apart.

(Mat 12:25 GNB)

So if one group is fighting another in Satan's kingdom, this means that it is already divided into groups and will soon fall apart!

(Mat 12:26 GNB)

You say that I drive out demons because Beelzebul gives me the power to do so. Well, then, who gives your followers the power to drive them out? What your own followers do proves that you are wrong!

(Mat 12:27 GNB)

No, it is not Beelzebul, but God's Spirit, who gives me the power to drive out demons, which proves that the Kingdom of God has already come upon you.

(Mat 12:28 GNB)

"No one can break into a strong man's house and take away his belongings unless he first ties up the strong man; then he can plunder his house.

(Mat 12:29 GNB)

"Anyone who is not for me is really against me; anyone who does not help me gather is really scattering.

(Mat 12:30 GNB)

Some teachers of the Law who had come from Jerusalem were saying, "He has Beelzebul in him! It is the chief of the demons who gives him the power to drive them out."

(Mar 3:22 GNB)

So Jesus called them to him and spoke to them in parables: "How can Satan drive out Satan?

(Mar 3:23 GNB)

If a country divides itself into groups which fight each other, that country will fall apart.

(Mar 3:24 GNB)

If a family divides itself into groups which fight each other, that family will fall apart.

(Mar 3:25 GNB)

So if Satan's kingdom divides into groups, it cannot last, but will fall apart and come to an end.

(Mar 3:26 GNB)

"No one can break into a strong man's house and take away his belongings unless he first ties up the strong man; then he can plunder his house.

(Mar 3:27 GNB)

Jesus was driving out a demon that could not talk; and when the demon went out, the man began to talk. The crowds were amazed,

(Luk 11:14 GNB)

but some of the people said, "It is Beelzebul, the chief of the demons, who gives him the power to drive them out."

(Luk 11:15 GNB)

Others wanted to trap Jesus, so they asked him to perform a miracle to show that God approved of him.

(Luk 11:16 GNB)

But Jesus knew what they were thinking, so he said to them, "Any country that divides itself into groups which fight each other will not last very long; a family divided against itself falls apart.

(Luk 11:17 GNB)

So if Satan's kingdom has groups fighting each other, how can it last? You say that I drive out demons because Beelzebul gives me the power to do so.

(Luk 11:18 GNB)

If this is how I drive them out, how do your followers drive them out? Your own followers prove that you are wrong!

(Luk 11:19 GNB)

No, it is rather by means of God's power that I drive out demons, and this proves that the Kingdom of God has already come to you.

(Luk 11:20 GNB)

"When a strong man, with all his weapons ready, guards his own house, all his belongings are safe.

(Luk 11:21 GNB)

But when a stronger man attacks him and defeats him, he carries away all the weapons the owner was depending on and divides up what he stole.

(Luk 11:22 GNB)

for me is really against me; anyone who does not help me gather is really scattering.

(Luk 11:23 GNB)
